The arrest of three top officials in the national Department of Health on Monday, 2 March 2026, on charges of fraud and theft involving more than R1-million, was the latest in a long line of scandals involving dodgy procurement activities in the public health sector. Just over a week later, Minister of Health Dr Aaron Motsoaledi has announced the precautionary suspension of the implicated individuals.
