Mandela's lawyer Ismail Ayob hailed for commitment to justice
Ismail Ayob, who died at 83 in Johannesburg, was Nelson Mandela's personal lawyer and the only attorney permitted to visit him on Robben Island during apartheid. Beyond representing the Mandela family for decades, Ayob was instrumental in numerous political prisoner cases and the 1972 Timol inquest, cementing his legacy in South Africa's legal history.
